Following findings by the new probe on ghost pensioners in the public service, it is eminent that besides government and its other arms such as parastatals, institutions could be part of this scandal.

Setting up a pension reform task team in the public sector therefore is inevitable to help restructure the pension system in Uganda since this is an area where government seems to be losing billions of monies.

Whereas systems are set up in countries like Nigeria to ensure the pension system is working, Uganda seems to be far away to monitor the efficiency of the systems.

However, there is a chance for government to look into reforming the anomalies in its services. Government through a pension reform task team could identify and remove fake pensioners, identify leakages and block them, mop up excess funds and ensure that all those who have not been paid their arrears and benefits are paid.
