TanTrade: AI to steal show at 48th DITF

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA Trade Development Authority (Tantrade) has said that latest technologies like the Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be one of attractions to be

showcased at the 48th edition of the Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) exhibition set to commence at the end of this month.

Tantrade Director General (DG), Ms Latifa Khamis, said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the preparations for the trade fair have reached 81 per cent and that currently they are finalising registration and allocation of spaces to exhibitors.

“This year’s exhibition will have unique attractions to be showcased, including the new technologies like the AI,” she said. Ms Khamis said that is an important initiative, as the trade fair also seeks to promote transfer of technologies through the exhibitions.

“The exhibitors from China will be showcasing the AI that will be used to guide and direct visitors to the pavilions, particularly those slated for foreign exhibitors,” she said, adding that AI will help visitors to visit the specific areas they need to get services quickly.

She said the AI will help to guide guests and all visitors to various sectors at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Grounds along Kilwa Road in Dar es Salaam.

For business people who want to get services in the relevant sector will be sent directly rather than start asking guides or fellow visitors.

Meanwhile, the DG said Tantrade has renovated a big international pavilion that will accommodate more than 300 exhibitors at ago, being decorated by AI.

“The pavilion has capacity to accommodate more than 3,00 companies, particularly foreigners at a time and also there will be a hall for B2B meetings that will be conducted during the exhibition,” she said.

The DG said that four provinces from China will participate in this year’s trade fair edition, as opposed to last year whereby only Shandong Province came and brought more than 150 participants.

“For instance, in China there will be more than 400 participants from four provinces compared to last year where participants from China were 150,” said Ms Khamis.

Furthermore, the DG encouraged participants to register online to avoid any inconvenience. She added that the allocation system has been improved to facilitate delivery of services.

“The service is done online, participants register using the internet system to make service delivery easier and make it easier for many exhibitors not to come to the field instead they send applications from wherever they are,” Ms Khamis noted.

Ms Khamis said that Tantrade do not want to work under pressure as previously they wanted from day one judges can pass to access.
