NJOMBE: THE ruling party, CCM Secretary General Ambassador Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, has directed the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) and other security organs to seal all loopholes for embezzlement of public funds disbursed for development projects.
Dr Nchimbi issued a directive in Makambako, Njombe region when addressing a mammoth rally that had turned up to welcome him and his entourage as he was heading to Njombe region headquarters from Mbarali District in Mbeya region.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr Nchimbi expressed his dismay over some unscrupulous officials who were squandering public funds allocated for the implementation of crucial development projects.
“PCCB should ensure that you keep eyes on all projects, especially the flagship projects, by ensuring that there are no public funds embezzled or misused because we want to see the value for money highly maintained,’’ he said.
Dr Nchimbi added, “All state organs charged with authority to supervise public funds should make sure that the money is well spent instead of waiting to arrest culprits after they have already caused a loss to the government, therefore, you need to be proactive by sealing all loopholes.”

However, the CCM Secretary General underscored the need for all Tanzanians to be patriotic and embrace love for their nation, insisting: “Stealing from your country is nothing but equal to stealing from your pocket.’’ Dr Nchimbi told a rally that President Samia Suluhu Hassan was always fighting for the nation and her people, therefore, Tanzanians should complement those efforts because the country is still young and therefore everybody should avoid corruption acts that are derailing the country’s development efforts.
Prior to entering Njombe Region, Dr Nchimbi, who was accompanied by the party’s Ideology, Publicity and Training Secretary Amos Makala and the party’s Organisation Secretary Issa Gavu, addressed residents of Ubaruku Ward in Mbarali District.
In Mbarali, Dr Nchimbi took time to listen and address challenges facing the area residents where he issued directives to party and government leaders on how best to address them.
One of the main issues raised by area residents was a dispute between citizens and Ruaha National Park, which is under the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA). Dr Nchimbi directed the Ministry of Land and Human Settlement Development to ensure that surveyors are visiting Mbarali District to address the issues regarding boundaries surrounding the national park.
At Ubaruku Ward, the party’s Secretary General directed Mbeya Regional Commissioner Juma Homera and Mbarali District Commissioner to follow up on the allegations by TANAPA rangers using excessive force against area residents in the course of discharging their duties.
He called on the authorities to ensure that violence against area residents was eliminated, including allegations of shoot-tokill being executed by TANAPA officials.
At a public rally, Ambassador Nchimbi further directed the Minister for Agriculture, Hussein Bashe, to initiate dialogue with one of the investors in the area, Haroun Mulla, the owner of Mbarali Estates, so that he can hand over one of his farms to area residents so they can conduct their agricultural activities.
