However, Ndumbaro said that the government is ready to provide professional advice to sports stakeholders intending to build or improve sports infrastructure at any time.

Minister Ndumbaro told the Parliament that the government will collaborate with various stakeholders, by the guidelines of relevant sports federations, including the Tarime sports ground, as directed by the 1995 Sports Development Policy.

Furthermore, the minister emphasised that the government is also planning to construct recreation centers in all local government authorities across the country.

Responding to a question from Special Seats MP, Salome Makamba, Ndumbaro stated that the government is currently planning to build or improve sports infrastructure, along with recreation centres, in every local government authority nationwide.

He noted that construction of recreation centres has commenced in Dodoma and Dar es Salaam.

“We have started the construction of recreation centres in Dodoma and Dar es Salaam. All of these recreation centres will have all the necessary sports facilities,” he explained.

Additionally, Ndumbaro highlighted that the recreation centres will include facilities for football, netball, basketball, Olympic-size swimming pools, and volleyball, to mention a few.

He stressed that the strategy for constructing recreation centres will begin in cities and then extend to regions, eventually covering all local government authorities nationwide.

Deputy Speaker Musa Zungu emphasised the importance of building sports infrastructure and urged MPs to use their influence in council meetings to allocate budgets for construction of the recreation centres.

“Honorable Makamba, the government cannot do everything. You are councilors, allocate budgets in your local authorities and build sports facilities,” Zungu emphasized.
