CRDB pours 3.8bn/- for FA Cup

DAR ES SALAAM: CRDB Bank has inked a three-and-a-halfyear deal with the Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) to sponsor the prestigious Federation Cup (FA) at a 3.759bn/-.

The impressive sponsorship deal is poised to elevate the stature of the FA tournament to unprecedented heights.

It was initially dubbed Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC), now to be known as the CRDB Bank Federation Cup.

Speaking after the signing ceremony in Dar es Salaam, CRDB Managing Director, Abdulmajid Nsekela, emphasized their commitment to nurturing sporting talent across various disciplines in collaboration with the TFF.

“CRDB is dedicated to working hand in hand with TFF to foster talent development across different sporting arenas,” he explained.

Nsekela elaborated that their sponsorship kicks off at the round of 16 stage in the ongoing season, with a substantial sum already allocated to facilitate the completion of the remaining fixtures.

“We have already earmarked $100,000, equivalent to 255 m/- to support TFF in wrapping up the remaining matches,” he said.

Highlighting significance of the sponsorship, TFF President, Wallace Karia, lauded CRDB for becoming the ground-breaking sponsor of the Federation Cup.

“I congratulate CRDB Bank for choosing to partner with TFF for the advancement of football in the country,” he stated. Karia emphasized that the quality and professionalism of the tournament played a pivotal role in attracting CRDB’s investment as the primary sponsor.

“This sponsorship will enhance the value of the Federation Cup, and I anticipate that participating clubs will continue to accord this tournament the significance it deserves, as the champions earn the opportunity to compete in continental competitions,” he explained.

Furthermore, Karia disclosed that the sponsorship funds would be allocated to essential areas, such as team travel expenses, accommodation, and overall enhancement of tournament standards in various aspects.

He revealed the tournament’s final venue, which is set to be the Tanzanite Stadium in Babati, Manyara region, assuring stakeholders of TFF’s commitment to fostering collaboration with various partners for the betterment of Tanzanian football.

“The grand finale of this year’s CRDB Bank Federation Cup will take place in Manyara region, with the first semi-final to be held in Mwanza.

“Details regarding the venue for the second semi-final will be announced in due course,” he explained.

As TFF continues to forge alliances with diverse stakeholders, the future of Tanzanian football appears brighter than ever, with CRDB’s sponsorship poised to propel the Federation Cup to new heights of excellence.
