Bank digitises services to enhance financial inclusion

 Daily News reporter

DAR ES SALAAM: DCB Commercial Bank has embarked on an initiative aimed at digitising access to banking services for the Village Community Banks (VICOBA) that will contribute to financial inclusion.

The Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Sabasaba Moshingi said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that Vicoba is a fundamental tool in fighting poverty while enhancing economic empowerment of the poor communities.

“We recognise the importance of technology in improving people’s lives, that is why we have decided to introduce the VicobaApp to help its members and other social groups access financial services more easily through their mobile phones,” he said.

Mr Moshingi was speaking at the event after unveiling the DCB VicobaApp targeting Vicoba members and other social groups in the country.

He said the application would enable Vicoba members to conduct their transactions more easily and securely, thus stimulating economic development in society.

“Established about 22 years ago through the initiative of the former President Benjamin William Mkapa, our main priority has been to uplift the lives of Tanzanians with average economic income, especially small and medium entrepreneurs, but focusing more on Tanzanians who have often lacked the criteria for obtaining loans and ease of investing in commercial banks,” he said.

Mr Moshingi said through this partnership, DCB customers will be able to access their accounts easily wherever they are and at any time and receive services.
