The media fraternity in Tanzania has been plunged
into mourning following the sudden death of a senior journalist,
Shadrack Sagati, a former scribe with Tanzania Standard (Newspapers)
Limited’s HabariLeo newspaper.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Industries, Trade and Investment, where Sagati was working as a Senior Communications Officer at the time of his death, revealed that he died a few hours after being involved in a car accident in Geita Region, on Monday night.
The accident left four more people seriously injured, and these include: the ministry’s Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ludovick Nduhiye; an economist, Nickson Matembo; internal auditor, Yusuph Mbwalwa and driver Lucas Wambura.
Survivors of the accident are still receiving treatment at Geita Referral Hospital, while burial arrangements for Sagati are underway.
