It difficult to get a good grasp of this
because we navigate life through our physical senses - our animalistic
ability to see, hear, touch taste and smell largely form tour
foundational appreciation of life. From the moment we gain
consciousness, we are not only trained to take in our environment
through them, we are also taught to instinctively use them to respond or
react to it.
If something good happens, we are quickly elated and just as quickly depressed when something upsets us.
We find ourselves constantly riding an emotional rollercoaster based not on ours but on other people’s mindsets.
We
are constantly bombarded by our environment; TV, radio, news papers
activities and conversations around us that inevitably influence the
choices that we make as individuals. To take charge of our lives and
change our outcomes, we must pay very close attention to who and what we
listen to.
Think about it; you would not ask a person
who has never even floated in a bathtub to teach you how to swim in a
crocodile-infested river, would you? Well if you did, you would both
very quickly wind up as sumptuous meals for a few hungry crocs.
To
become financially independent, we must consciously seek out and learn
from those who already experience financial freedom. To become
leading lights in our various fields, we must seek out and learn from
the top people in our industries.
We are each born
perfectly capable of influencing our thoughts independently of our
environment - through our superior thinking abilities. It is our
confident awareness of their existence and the proper use of these
abilities that will empower us to take charge of the way we think to
create the results that will yield the lives that we most desire.
Take our sight for example. That is a basic physical ability to visually take in our surroundings.
With
our perception and imagination on the other hand, we all see further
than they physically are available. Using our deeper abilities, it
isn’t our eyes that see, it is our mindset - belief systems... and with
these, we can either see the limitation or we can see the invitation
and opportunity in each situation.
Rather than
gather information using our basic senses leading to basic decisions and
consequently basic outcomes, a better way of positively influencing our
thinking to improve our results is to develop and use the higher side
of our personality, our intellect.
With a deep
understanding of how our minds operate and the knowledge that our
thinking determines how our lives turn out. We are better-placed to
create the lives that we want in our minds first before acting it out
into physical form.
