CGP Minja was working under a contract
of which the resignation has automatically terminated. The president has
accepted both the resignation and contract termination.
Also DrMagufuli has appointed an acting CGP, Commissioner of Prison Dr Juma Malewa.
He will act until a new CGP is appointed.
On Wednesday President Magufuli made an
impromptu tour of Ukonga Prison in Dar es Salaam and ordered an
immediate stoppage of the sale of military uniforms by civilians.
The order came after the president
received complaints from prison wardens over the procurement of their
uniforms from private dealers, contrary to the rules and principles
guiding the armed forces.
According to a statement issued by the
State House Communications Directorate On Wednesday evening, the head of
state directed the relevant authorities to take to task all those
involved in the shoddy deals relating to uniform supply to prison
officers.
