TARIME District Council has said annually entrepreneurship exhibition being organized by North Mara Gold Mine is helping to create jobs and business opportunities for young men and women in the villages around the mine.
“This exhibition is a source of
employment and business opportunities. Let us make good use of the
exhibitions”, Tarime District Council Executive Director (DED) Mr Apoo
Castro Tindwa said on Friday when officially closing the latest
entrepreneurship exhibition organized and sponsored by the mine.
The three-day exhibition attracted
dozens of local entrepreneurs taking the advantage of the business
opportunities provided by the gold mine which is operated by Acacia
Mining, Tanzania’s leading gold producer.
Mr Tindwa said Tarime District Council
will support the miner’s initiatives aimed at creating jobs and business
opportunities in the villages surrounding the mine.
Mr Nicholaus Mgaya , one of the local
entrepreneurs said his company called Chichake Hardware and Supplies had
created more than 30 jobs for the local young men and women due to
opportunities created by the mining company.

Mr Zakayo Kalebo said the theme of event this year is: Embracing better
relations stimulates sustainable development. The exhibition was opened
on Wednesday by Tarime District Council Chairman, Mr Moses Misiwa.
Mr Misiwa hailed the mine’s support on
local development pledging full cooperation. “Since entrepreneurs of
this area (Nyamongo) are so serious and they are many, as council we
will increase our budget that is allocated for youth and women loans and
support them”, the top council said .
