President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced that the over Sh500 million Jersey graft case proceeds will be used to construct drug rehabilitation centres and safe houses for women to protect them from gender based violence.

Mr Kenyatta said that his administration will not relent in its war against corruption.
“Those who loot public money will be forced to return it,” President Kenyatta said.
He was speaking Thursday at State House, Mombasa, when he addressed over 8,000 youth, women and elders drawn from the six counties of the Coast region.
The Royal Court of Jersey in February made a confiscation order to seize the £3.28 million and $540,330.69 (totalling Sh520 million) held in the offshore account of Windward Trading Limited - the entity ex-Kenya Power boss Samuel Gichuru used to receive kickbacks in exchange for the award of lucrative tenders to foreign firms during his two-decade tenure at the helm of the utility.
