Chadema, the main opposition party, said
they heed to a request by religious leaders that called for them to
engage in dialogue with the government instead of sticking to their
guns.
The party National Chairman, Mr Freema
Mbowe, told journalists today at a press conference in Dar es Salaam
that they respect the religious leaders request and halt the rallies.
Chadema called the countrywide
demonstration over a month ago pressing to let the government allow them
to stage in and outdoors meetings.
The police and almost all regional
commissioners barred the said rallies on the ground that they stage to
tarnishing the country’s piece.
