PRESIDENT Dr John Magufuli has directed the newly appointed Regional and District Commissioners (RCs and DCs) to ensure that they maintain peace, security and tranquility in their respective areas to bring about development.
As president’s representatives, Dr
Magufuli instructed RCs and DCs to put forward public interest and
ensure they deliver to the expectation.
He was speaking during the swearing
ceremony of the new Regional Commissioners and District Commissioners
(DCs) early today at the State House in Dar es Salaam.
President Magufuli assured them that the government would work hand in hand and support their daily activities.
Early this week President Magufuli made a
mini-reshuffle in the line-up of regional commissioners (RCs) in three
regions and appointed 139 district commissioners (DCs), dropping 100
from the current list while retaining 39 of them.
Among the new DCs, 22 were serving as
District Executive Directors (DEDs) while the remaining 78 are new
appointees, including the youth and educated Tanzanians with experience
in a number of fields.
“President Magufuli considered a number
of criteria before making the se-lection, including age in which he
decided that leaders over 60 years of age should retire,” the Chief
Secretary (CS), Ambassador John Kijazi, said in a statement issued by
the Directorate of Presidential Communications early this week.
