The Directorate of Presidential
Communications said in a statement issued in Dar es Salaam that
according to the Chief Secretary, Ambassador John Kijazi, the
appointment is effective from June 21.
Professor Maboko who is a lecturer of
Geology at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) replaces Prof Cathbert
Mhilu whose tenure had expired.
At the same time, Dr Magufuli has
appointed Dr Omary Ali Amir Deputy Director General of the Sea-
Fisheries Protection Authority, in the Revolutionary Government of
Zanzibar.
According to Dr Kijazi, Dr Amir’s appointment is effective from June 21, 2016.
The appointment of the Director General
and Deputy Director General is rotational between Tanzania Mainland and
Zanzibar, after every three years. On rotational basis, if the Director
General is from Zanzibar, then, the Deputy Director General will be
appointed from the Mainland and vice versa
