Saturday donated food items to four orphanage centres is Dar es Salaam
for iftar as Muslims mark the Holy Month of Ramadhan.
A statement issued by the State House said that the food items included 500kgs of rice, 500 kgs of sugar and 28kgs of dates.
Speaking shortly after she handed over
the donation Mama Magufuli, who was accompanied by the wife of Prime
Minister Mary Majaliwa, called upon all Muslims in the country to
continue praying for the country’s peace.
“We wish all Muslims the best Holy Month
of Ramadhan, we call upon you to continue praying for the country’s
peace, leaders and all Tanzanians,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of other orphanage
centres, which benefited from the food items, Charambe Islamic Centre,
Dr Haruni Kondo, expressed gratitude to Mama Magufuli for the
assistance, describing the act as unity and solidarity among Tanzanians
regardless of their religious differences.
“You are Christian faithful but you
recognise your fellow Muslims; this demonstrates unity and solidarity
among Tanzanians,” he said.
The centres, which benefited from the
donation, include the Charambe Islamic Centre, Tasofe Lqadiria, Nur
Twarigatu Lqadiria and Zawiyatul Lqadiria
