DEPUTY Minister for Works, Transport and Communications, Eng Edwin Ngonyani, has said the construction of 109.4 kilometres at a tarmac level of Njombe-Ndulamo-Makete road will start this financial year.
He was responding to a main question by
Lucy Mlowe (Special Seats - CCM), who wanted to know when the
construction of Njombe-Makete road at tarmac level will undertaken. He
said that his ministry through the Tanzania Roads Agency (TANROADS) has
completed a feasibility study undertaken by M/S Crown Tech Consult
Limited.
Eng Ngonyani said the government has set
aside 19bn/- for the construction of the construction of the road
through development budget this financial year.
Reacting to Lolensia Bukwimba
(Busanda-CCM) on the renovation of the Bukondo Bay which is in bad
shape, the Deputy Minister said the work is set for 2017/17 financial
year.
He said this year, the government
through the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) in 2016/17 financial year
will conduct geotechnical survey and bathymetric survey and the detailed
design before the official renovations.
However, he said, they are planning to
hand over Geita municipal council a land area to be used a port
including construction of state of an art Bukondo bay.
