Ecobank has announced the appointment of Mr Samuel Ashitey Adjei as the
new Managing Director of an expanded East, Central and South Africa
portfolios.
Mr Adjei who is credited with a decade long growth of the Ghana subsidiary will take the reins of the new structure that will run operations in 18 countries based at the Nairobi regional hub.
He will replace the current Ecobank Kenya MD Ehouman Kassi who has held the position since June 2013.
“Any success I have had in building our business in Kenya over the last three years has been due to the fine team of professionals who have worked tirelessly alongside me here in Kenya. I wish my successor, Sam Adjei the very best in taking over from me,” Mr Kasi said.
The Pan-African lender is restructuring operations which will see the Kenya office head Central, Eastern, and Southern African (CESA) Countries consisting of 18 subsidiaries.
Cameroun, Gabon, Chad Equitorial Guinea, Congo Brazaville, Central African Republic, Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique and Zimbabwe will all report to Kenya alongside the regional clout including Uganda Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania and South Sudan.
The other regional offices for Ecobank will be in Nigeria and Ghana while the headquarters remain in Togo.
Ecobank Group CEO Ade Ayeyemi praised Mr Adjei for overseeing exponential growth of the Ghanaian subsidiary over the past decade.
