Customs officers on Monday seized six kilograms of bhang concealed in a courier parcel at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Officers attached to Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Customs and Border Control division were on a routine screening mission at the Postal Corporation of Kenya warehouse at JKIA when they found the package marked as dried fish.
The carefully concealed package had been delivered for onward delivery to the United Kingdom via Benin through the Post Office mail service, from a Senegalese address.
KRA Customs and Border Control, Commissioner Mr Julius Musyoki said in a statement that preliminary tests have indicated that the narcotic substance is bhang.
“Our officers assisted by sniffer dogs among other technology solutions have been on very high alert to ensure that prohibited substances are not exported or imported through our border points,” he said.
He urged international courier and postal service companies to be alert to avoid being used as transport conduits by drug traffickers.
Mr Musyoki said investigations have been launched by the Anti-Narcotics Unit.
“The discovery at the Postal Corporation facility, will be further investigated to ensure that the culprits are brought to book,” he said.
