Opposition names shadow ministers

THE leader of the Opposition Camp in Parliament, Mr Freeman Mbowe, yesterday announced a shadow cabinet which included MPs from three opposition parties--Chadema, CUF and NCCRMageuzi.

In the newly released lineup, former opposition chief whip Tundu Lissu becomes the shadow minister for Justice, Constitutional Affairs and is assisted by Abdallah Mtolea. Mr James Mbatia becomes the minister for Works, Transport and Communication while Willy Kambalo is the deputy minister.
Halima Mdee has been picked Finance and Planning Minster and David Silinde becomes her deputy. The Energy and Minerals Ministry will be led by John Mnyika and assisted by John Heche. Ester Matiko and Cecilia Paresso have been picked as minister and deputy for Tourism andResources respectively.
Godbless Lema becomes Home Affairs Minister while Masoud Abdallah Salim is his deputy. In the President’s Office--Regional Administration and Local Government, Mr Mbowe appointed Jaffari Michael and Joseph Mkundi minister and deputy minister respectively while Ruth Mollel will handle Good Governance issues.
In the prime Minister’s Office-Labour, Youth, Employment and Disabled, opposition’s leader appointed Ester Bulaya minister with two deputies Yusuph Makame and Maftah Nachuma.
Other Mps appointed to form the shadow cabinet are Peter Msigwa and Riziki Ngwali who become Minister and deputy for Foreign Affairs, East African, Regional and International Cooperation respectively.
Mr Mbowe also picked Magdalena Sakaya shadow minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and will be assisted by Immaculate Semesi.
Defence and National Service will be led by Juma Hamad Omar while Mwita Waitara will be the deputy shadow minister. Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender and Children falls under Dr Godwin Mollel as minister and Zubeda Sakuru deputy minister.
Anthony Komu and Cecil Mwambe become minister and deputy minister for Industries, Trade and Investment respectively. Water and Irrigation will be led by Hamid Hassan as minister and Peter Lijualikali was picked his deputy.
Mr Mbowe also appointed Joseph Mbilinyi shadow minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports while Devota Minja will be his assistant.
Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development will be led by Wilfred Lwakatare as shadow minister, assisted by Salum Mgoso.
Ms Susana Lyimo and Ally Suleiman Yusuf were picked minister and deputy for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
Meanwhile the House yesterday elected a number MPs to represent the country in various regional and international parliamentary bodies.
In SADC Parliamentary Forum, the House elected Jamal Kassim Ally, Selemani Zedi, Ester Mnessi, Ally Salehe and Margaret Sitta.
In Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), the national assembly elected Amina Mollel, Maria Kangoye, Zainab Vullu, Hamis Mtumwa Ally, Salum Rehani, Jitu Soni, Japhet Asunga, Joseph Kandege, Raphael Chegeni, Sware Semesi and Tundu Lissu.
On the other hand, Pudenciana Kikwembe, Juma Othman Hija, Mohamed Mchengerwa, Peter Serukamba and Susan Lyimo were elected representatives in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
In Pan African Parliament (PAP), national assembly elected Mboni Mhita, Asha Abdallah, Faustine Ndugulile, Stephen Masele and David Silinde.
The House also elected members of the Parliamentary Service Commission namely Kangi Lugola, Faharia Shomari, Mary Chatanda, Mussa Zungu, Salim Hassan Turky, Magdalena Sakaya and Peter Msigwa.
