The Minister for Natural Resources and
Tourism, Prof Jumanne Maghembe, said the government is committed to
solving the disputes once and for all.
“We have a plan in the pipeline to
conduct a survey in those areas and bring to an end all disputes which
have been pitting villagers and custodians of the reserved areas,” Prof
Magembe told the National Assembly here.
He was reacting to a supplementary
question by Special Seats MP, Ms Felister Bura (CCM), who took issues
with recurring conflicts on boarder disputes. In another development,
large herds of cattle have been cited as among factors contributing to
clashes between pastoralists and the management of Lake Manyara National
Park.
This was disclosed by Deputy Minister
for Natural Resources and Tourism, Engineer, Ramo Makani, when
responding to a basic question by Special Seats MP, Cecilia Paresso
(Chadema).
Ms Paresso had tasked the government to
explain the steps it had taken to address a row pitting residents of
Buger Ward against wardens at Lake Manyara National Park
