This was said by the Minister for
Health, Community Development, Gender, the Elderly and Children, Ms Ummy
Mwalimu, insisting that the government has taken measures to make
regional and district hospitals in the country have adequate specialized
health officers and doctors.
“It might be an excruciating exercise to
doctors who do not want to be moved but I request you MP’s to support
the government in this, we would not like a situation where politicians
defend any doctor once the exercise begins” she said.
The minister made the statement in
response to a supplementary question by Munde Abdallah (Special Seats
CCM), who wanted to know what the government was doing to end shortage
of health expertise in regional hospitals.
The minister added that the
redistribution plan will benefit about nine regions in the country,
among them; Tabora, Singida, Geita,Rukwa, Kigoma, Katavi, Njombe, Simiyu
and Shinyanga. Meanwhile, the government has reiterated its plan to
ensure all referral hospitals in the country get MRI, CT-Scan and x-ray
equipments.
The statement was made by the Minister
of State in the President’s Office--Public Service Management and Good
Governance, Angellah Kairuki in the parliament yesterday.
“The government plans to install patient
monitor, pulse oxymeter and oxygen concentrator in all regional
hospitals” she told the house. She was responding to a question by
Special Seats MP, Munde Abdallah (CCM), who wanted to know when the
government will provide Tabora regional hospitals with the important
equipments.
This comes at a time when there have
been complaints from patients that they hardly get the services at the
Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH), let alone the regional referral
hospitals.
