PRESIDENT Ali Mohamed Shein has urged people to enhance the economical achievements recorded in 2015 by working harder this year and continue building a peaceful and harmonious society.
Wishing the people in the Islands a
happy and successful New Year (2016), Dr Shein highlighted some of the
successes of 2015 as economy, education, improving health care and the
provision of clean water.
“As we work hard in building our
economy, let us also strive to make our Islands clean and green by
stopping the habit of cutting down of trees and other degradation of the
land,” Dr Shein said in his New Year message.
He thanked people in Zanzibar for their
contribution in building the islands, particularly in making the Chama
Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) manifesto, anti-poverty strategy programme (MKUZA
II) and Vision 2020 successful.
“We have been moving forward with better
life for all. Our tourism industry has also been growing and in 2015 we
recorded about 254,699 tourists from abroad,” said Dr Shein, adding
that Zanzibar need to maintain peace and improve services to attract
more tourists,” Dr Shein said.
‘We had our infrastructures, including
airports, roads, and marine transport improved and also bought a new
cargo/passenger ship. We must be proud of our achievements, and just
ignore those mocking the developments,” said Dr Shein
