WORKERS at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism have been urged to assist their newly appointed minister, Prof Jumanne Maghembe, in discharging his duties.
The appeal was given by the former
tourism minister, Mr Lazaro Nyalandu, during the office handover event
held yesterday in Dar es Salaam.
“You are better placed to help the new
minister implement his duties and achieve progress,” Mr Nyalandu told
the ministry’s officials at the event.
He explained that good working relations
will help keep safe the country’s natural resources and sustainably
utilising them for the benefit of the nation.
He stressed the need to continue to
promote tourism attractions to make sure that objectives are met. “This
team comprises of people who are well vested in tourism matters…they are
also a well trained anti-poaching force,” he said.
Minister Maghembe promised to work with the same vigor as his predecessor.
“I am aware of the good job done by Mr
Nyalandu. We will work hard to bring development,” he said. He mentioned
some of the challenges the ministry will give priority to as fighting
illegal logging and wildlife poaching.
Prof Maghembe hailed Mr Nyalandu, saying that his leadership was worth emulating.
