SCG Tanzania project chief site manager Su Yungang disclosed this
at the official launch of "Skills Competition Grand Final 2015 for SCG's
Local Staff in Tanzania" in Monduli District, Arusha.
Su explained that, normally casual unskilled workers are hired and
sent away after the projects are completed, but SCG intends to transform
its hired labour force into skilled experts through giving them serious
training on site.
SCG is currently undertaking the building of many residential
housing units in Monduli district as part of the on-going countrywide
construction.
SGC also hires thousands of Tanzanian casual workers to work at the
housing construction base as well as other building sites around the
country and the company feels it was high time to upgrade them to become
skilled workers through the special competition in which winners earn
prizes as well.
Su said the housing project happens to be SCG's first project in
Tanzania and they intend to not only come up with quality products but
also ensure that through the project, the lives of many Tanzanians
working in different sites across the nation will be transformed for
better.
