Samsung Electronics is Wednesday expected to launch the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus in Nairobi, which will be retailing at Sh99,999 for the 64 GB storage variant.
The flagship device by the tech company will be on sale in both the 64GB and 32GB versions, with the latter going for Sh89,999.
Pre-ordering for the Galaxy S6 Plus in the US and UK kicked off last month after launches in the respective markets. Shipments of the phone are expected to begin on Thursday.
The firm also unveiled the Galaxy Note 5 in August that costs about Sh70,000 ($700).
The previous versions of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were pegged at Sh74,999 and Sh89,999 respectively when they began selling in April.
Samsung handset sales volumes for the Galaxy S4 — released in 2013 — is known to have set the firm’s sales record of 70 million units globally.
The firm struggled to fend off stiff challenge from Apple in the high-end market and rising Chinese firms such as Tecno and Xiaomi in the fast-growing mid and low-end markets.
The iPhone 6 Plus by Apple and the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge by Samsung have been struggling for the premium market along with other flagship devices from other manufacturers including Sony’s Xperia Z3 Plus, LG’s G4 and HTC M9.
