The much awaited Kitui County Investor Conference officially kicked off Friday.
Governor Julius Malombe officially opened the two-day investment forum.
He was accompanied by former vice-president Kalonzo Musyoka and Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu.
Also in attendance was Deputy Governor Peninah Malonza and a section of Kitui County government officers.
The conference is showcasing different investment opportunities in the county in a bid to woo participants to put up businesses in the county.
The conference is expected to draw over 300 local, national, regional and international investors and business people.
One of the potential investors, Thika Motors Dealers (TMD) has expressed interest in investing in the county.
According to TMD sales executive Winnie Kiilu, the company is planning to set up a vehicle assembly, service and sale branch in the county early 2016.
“We are in the final stages of getting into an agreement with the county government as we prepare to set up our fourth branch in Kitui.
“We already have branches in Nairobi, Thika and Machakos,” she disclosed to the Nation.
