Nairobi is set to host the second annual East Africa digital marketing summit next month.
The
annual event, designed to bring together key stakeholders in the
digital marketing space from East Africa, would be held on April 9-10.
The
meeting brings together digital marketing companies, communication and
marketing managers in both public and private sector as well as
companies dealing with digital products and services.
The participants would also get an opportunity to showcase the latest digital trends.
Eyeballs
Marketing, the firm organising the meeting, said the expo comes at a
time when the online audience has been “on a meteoric rise” because of
increased penetration of internet-enabled handsets.
NEXT FRONTIER
“Smartphones
have opened up a whole new market. Consumers, after all, almost always
have their mobile devices with them. The challenge therefore is to
create products that will capture their attention and give returns on
investment,” said Martin Muli from Eyeballs Marketing.
Mobile
phone and tablets remain the internet access point for the majority of
Kenyans, standing at 13.9 million subscriptions as at the end of 2014, a
five per cent rise from the previous year.
Last year’s event had more than 25 exhibitors from East Africa and over 1000 visitors.
Safaricom, Scarlet Digital, Ma3Route, M-Farm, Google, Nailab and WASP Africa exhibited their products.
Safaricom showcased business applications while Scarlet Digital exhibited how digital public relation works.
Google took its BebaPay, and Nailan showcased products aimed at startups.
Wasp Africa showcased SMS-based innovation as well as gadgets.
