Researcher
Jonathan Zdziarski demonstrated on August 1st how the Apple’s
unpublicized technology takes a surprising amount of personal data of
customers at the Hackers on Planet Earth conference last week.
The service could extract Phone users’private information from a unlocked phone through a trusted computer. The data include ............................................
text messages, contact lists and photos
Apple claimed that diagnostic services are used to help engineers,
and they rejected creating any “back doors” for intelligence agencies.
However, highly public concerns are still aroused by this issue.
SOUNDBITE(ENGLISH): ALBERTA VASSAR, Student
"I think it is not a good thing because it invades your privacy and
I think there should be more privacy so it’s not a great idea."
SOUNDBITE(ENGLISH): DOROTHY CAMPBELL, Teacher
"Be considered by my banking security, other personal security and in case of identity theft."
Some other said Apple needs to tell people what exactly they know and what they use them for definitely.
SOUNDBITE(ENGLISH): LLANO GOVT, Actor
"I think they need to tell people not necessary just people buy it
but we need to make it public to make sure that what exactly they know
and what they use them for as well. Definitely."
According to media report, security industry analysts said Zdziarski's work was over hyped but technically accurate.
They think Apple is collecting more than they should be, and the only way to get it is to compromise security.
For all the concerns to the previously unknown means and other
occasional bugs, Apple’s phones are generally considered more secure
than those using Goggle Android operating system.
