Turkish delegation in Dar to explore business opportunities

Turkey Foreign Affairs minister is in the country to assess business opportunities available here as well as issues related to infrastructure, education and power sources.


Ahmet Davutoglu said in Dar es Salaam on Friday he was happy to note that trade volume between the two countries was now worth $ 183 billion, attributing this to the opening of the Turkish Embassy in Tanzania since five years ago.

The corresponding figure in 2009 was $63 million.
Zuberi  Kayugwa, Sales and Marketing Manager of Dar es Salaam based company  Aydin Logistics, a Turkish firm that has invested in cargo handling and construction equipment, said they target $15million in logistics investment in a further bid to promote business links between the two countries.

The investment is aimed at strategic positioning of Aydin Logistics at Dar es Salaam Port which serves a number of land-locked countries.

Kayugwa told a news conference that over $3million has been invested in market resources and heavy-duty equipment and transport logistics whereby Aydin Logistics provide machines and trucks on hire to customers, heavy load transportation and warehouse management.

“Our mission is to become one of the leading companies in the logistics industry by practicing customer oriented service and using advanced technology in Tanzania and the whole of East Africa. “ he said.

Meanwhile, Davutoglu announced that Tanzania will be among African countries to benefit from $ 500 billion of exports value set aside by Turkey between now and 2023 aimed at strengthening business and economic links between that country and the African continent.

This is being done ahead of celebrations to mark Turkey’s 100 years of independence.
The Chairman of Turkey and Tanzania Chamber of Commerce (TTTC), Ms Esra Eristi said to promote good relations between two countries, the Turkish minister is accompanied by eight journalists.

The delegation arrived on Thursday for a three-day tour arranged by Aydin Logistics.
Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Bernand Membe said the two countries exchanged views on bilateral as well as regional issues.
