The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) will this year recognise the top 52 brands with quality excellence in the country.

The recognition, the second of its kind after the inaugural one held two years ago, was announced last week by the PSFU chief, Gideon Badaggawa.

Badaggawa said the awards, whose nominations closed last Wednesday, will honour firms in the categories of agriculture, banking and finance, insurance, engineering, energy, ICT, manufacturing and conversion issues, skills, health, education, media and professional organisations, tourism, transport, haulage and trade and commerce.

“Voting will begin today via SMS platform where the public will send messages with codes to vote their choice. We shall also hold consumer opinion surveys to get public views on their best brands,” said Badaggawa.

“We shall wind up the campaign with an awards dinner to be held on August 22 at Hotel Africana in Kampala,” he added.

In 2012 during the golden jubilee celebrations, PSFU organised the Top 50 Brands as the private sector national commemorative event.

The Government, through its various ministries, supported the initiative and it was accorded the highest recognition when President Yoweri Museveni signed the award certificates that were handed over to the 50 top brands.

Badaggawa said the best brands will be selected basing on continuity, companionship and consistency in quality.
