DC tells councillors: Work diligently, abide by laws

Councillors of local authorities should work diligently and abide by laws governing their duties in order to bring about their people’s development, the Itilima District Commissioner, Georgina Bundala, has said.


Speaking to members of the Itilima District Council (IDC) over the weekend, Bundala said it would only prosper if its councillors worked hard and served their people well.

She said residents of the district face a number of problems, like lack of health facilities, schools and water supply. She said these challenges can be overcome if the councilors devote much of their time serving their electorate.
Bundala called on the councilors to work as a team and cooperate with the IDC in addressing challenges facing wananchi.

She said meaningful development would only be realized if there is unity and councilors cooperate with district authorities.

Bundala said Itilima district has a number of opportunities which, if utilized well, would take the district and its people a step ahead.
She called on the councilors to be creative and innovative in order to come up with projects that would enable wananchi combat poverty in the district.
