A university student and a guard were Wednesday morning killed by robbers in Kasarani.
Nairobi
County commander Benson Kibue said four suspected robbers armed with a
pistol and crude weapons raided a residential apartment in Kahawa
Wendani where they cut the watchman on the head, killing him on the
spot.
The watchman had allegedly tried to block the suspects from entering the apartment.
They
then proceeded to one of the houses where they stole household goods.
As they were escaping, they met a Kenyatta University student, Phineas
Murungi, who they also hit on the head. The student also died on the
spot.
Police officers on night patrol were alerted and rushed to the scene.
The officers caught up with the gang at around 4am and shot one of them dead while the rest escaped.
Some
of the Kenyatta university students stay in private apartments in the
neighbouring Kahawa estate due to limited facilities at the college. In
the last one month, at least three students have been attacked and
killed in Kahawa, according to police records
