Kathigiri Boarding Primary School in Meru County has for the second time in a row emerged as the top public school.
Last year the school was the best with a mean grade of 388 and an improved mean score index of seven.
The second best performing public school was St Mathews Septonok Primary in Nandi County.
In third place was M.P.I.S Primary in Migori County.
St Andrews Kaggwa Boys Primary School in Nyamira and All Saints Kebulonik Academy in Nandi were fourth and fifth.
In
the private schools category, Newlight Academy in Komarock, Nairobi
County, lost its leading place to Makini Ngong Road Academy, also of
Nairobi. Newlight, last year’s top performer, was third with Nyali St
Kevin Elite of Mombasa taking the second place.
Chelsa Academy of Bomet and Freds Academy of Meru were in positions four and five respectively.
In the top 10 most improved schools nationally, nine were public schools, an indication they can do better with more effort.
Mabesheni
Primary in Kwale County was the most improved school, rising from a
mean of 180 in 2012 to 290. It also improved from position 15,959 in
2012 to 2,527 in 2013.
It was followed by Dadajabulla Primary in Wajir County, which improved from a mean of 181 in 2012 to 237.
Loiyangalani in Marsabit County improved from a mean score 120 in 2012 to 216 this year.
Alhidaya
Primary in Wajir County was the only private school among the 10 best
improved, with a mean score of 290 in 2013, up from 195 last year.
Other
best improved schools included Sala Primary School in Wandera whose
score rose from 120 last year to 216 this year, Nyonsia Dok Primary
School in Kisii County with a mean score of 260 this year, up from 170
last year.
Got Rembo Primary School in Siaya County
also featured on the most improved public schools list with its mean
score rising to 283, up from 193 in 2012.
