Dar es Salaam. Soccer fans have a reason to cheer about after the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) finalised installation of electronic ticketing devices at all stadia hosting Premier League matches.

The initiative, which has been worked out by the federation has been facilitated by CRDB Bank and will mark the end of massive theft of gate revenues.

The introduction of the electronic ticketing would be a huge relief to the fans who would now have an easy access to purchase the tickets without wasting time.

Besides, revenue collection will be easily controlled with increased accuracy and shortened time for counting money.

Security measures will also be highly enhanced and cost reduction in hiring gate keepers and salesmen/women while a full control of fake tickets will be in force.

Speaking with The Citizen yesterday, the TPL chief executive officer, Silas Mwakibinga, confirmed the installation of the devices, expressing hope of collecting more revenues in the 2013/13 season.

“It is true that CRDB Bank has completed installing the devices in all stadia that will host league matches. “This is a milestone because the technology will help ease the ticketing process and ensure that the collection of revenues is controlled with increased accuracy,” he said.

Mwakibinga named the venues that will be used for premiership action as the National Stadium, Manungu, Sheikh Amri Abeid, Mkwakwani, Ali Hassan Mwinyi, Sokoine, Azam Complex, Kaitaba and Jamhuri Stadium.

Mwakibinga admitted that the new technology will come with a lot of challenges, but was confident that they will get used to it as soon as possible.

The Mainland premier league is expected to kick off on August 24 with all participating teams in different action. The TFF president Leodegar Tenga, also expressed his delight over the introduction of the technology, saying the federation has reached a milestone achievement.

“The advent of electronic tickets is a huge relief and big success not only to the football federation but also to the entire football fraternity as well,” said Tenga, who will be relinquishing power later this year.
