Youth to interview Obama

At least 10 youths will on Saturday engage the American President Barrack Obama in a live satellite broadcast from South Africa.

According to a statement issued by the American embassy in Nairobi yesterday, Mr Obama will take questions from youths from Uganda, Kenya and Nigeria.

“During the 75-minute live broadcast television event, the President will also respond to questions from young Africans in two other remote locations – Kampala and Lagos - as well as from the studio audience in South Africa,” the statement said.

NTV hosts
Mr Daniel Travis, the public affairs officer at the American embassy in Kampala told the Daily Monitor yesterday that NTV Uganda will host the youths.

“Ugandan youths will participate from NTV’s studios. We will issue a statement tomorrow (Today),” he said.

NTV will broadcast the event live via satellite from University of Johannesburg, Soweto Campus.

Mr Obama started his three-country tour in African with Senegalyesterday and is expected to visit South Africa and Tanzania.


Mr Obama yesterday met his Senegalese counterpart, Mr Markall Sall, and was expected to tour Goree Island, a former slave trading hub off the coast of the capital Dakar.
