The High Court in Kampala yesterday declined to
order the release of four aides of Gen David Sejusa, saying they are in
legal detention
.
.
The four, who prior to their arrest were working
in the office of Gen Sejusa, include Mr James Nayebare, Mr Moses
Nuwagaba, Private Ninsima Frank (a serving officer) and Mr Abel
Twinamasiko.
They were arrested on May 5 from their homes in a
joint operation by the police flying squad and the army before being
detained in unknown places. It had to take relatives and lawyers to
compel court to order the government to have them in court.
Speaking to the Daily Monitor yesterday, their
lawyer, Mr Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi, said after the arrest of his clients,
they were secretly charged before the General Court Martial with various
crimes before being remanded to Kigo Prison and Makindye Military
Barracks.
Mr Rwakafuuzi said the detainees, apart from Mr Ninsiima, should not be subjected to the UPDF Act
