Members of the East African Legislative
Assembly (EALA), currently sitting in Kigali, late Tuesday, passed the
long-awaited One-Stop-Border Posts bill, paving the way for it to become
an East African Community (EAC) Law if assented to by the five EAC
Heads of State.
The bill, initiated by the EAC Council of Ministers, provides the
framework for the establishment of One-Stop-Border Posts (OSBP) in the
five-nation bloc in order to facilitate trade through free movement of
goods and people within the Community.
