Fariji Msonsa The Citizen Reporters Dar es Salaam. The Parliamentary Committee for Public Organisations Accounts (POAC) has said information given by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) and Government Employees Provident Fund (GEPF) was perfect. This comes after the committee declined to review the accounts of GEPF on Monday on grounds that there was lack of clear information and their chairperson Ms Joyce Shahidi was absent without any information. The committee, therefore, directed the GEPF to meet yesterday. Speaking after yesterday’s meeting, POAC chairperson Zitto Kabwe said his committee was satisfied because everything was clearly explained.
“We are now done with PPRA and
GEPF and both organisations are well prepared and their accounts are
clear and good. POAC was to meet GEPF on Monday but it was rescheduled
because its chairperson did not show up. In short, there are no doubts
noted in their accounts,” said Mr Kabwe.
For his part, the deputy chairperson of GEPF, Mr Oswadi Urasa, said they were pleased with the assessment and vowed to continue being transparent.
He also
urged Tanzanians to join the pension fund because it suited people of
various groups and there were no delays in paying their benefits.
He said paying clients was just done within seven days if all required information was submitted. |
