THE
Simiyu Regional Commissioner (RC) Anthony Mtaka has hailed the NBC Bank
as the lead sponsor in the Nanenane agricultural exhibitions taking
place at national level in the region this year.
The
RC gave the praise during the official launch of NBC Banking Agent in
Bariadi in the region,
being one of the events featured in the Nanenane
agricultural exhibitions currently taking place at Nyakabindi.
The
RC noted that the NBC sponsorship of Nanenane, which has ended as a big
success, will help to transform the economy of the newly established
region, taking into account that the event attracted investors from
various sectors of the economy.
“It
is our hope that our economic investment master plan strategy will get a
boost from the entry of NBC in the region followed by other banks,
within the coming three years we expect that Simiyu region will be able
to rival other regions in revenue generation.”
He
also said the region had great potential for investment due to the fact
that most of the residents are industrious and are engaged in
productive activities, and called on institutions to seize the
opportunity to invest in the region.
Speaking
at the launch of the Agency Banking office, NBC Tanzania Managing
Director, Theobald Sabi said the launch of the NBC Agency Banking is one
of the strategies of the bank to widen its services outreach and enable
customers to access services without the need to physically visit the
bank/s branches.
“The
launch of this centre of our agent called JBS in Bariadi will enable
residents of Simiyu and surrounding areas to get a wide range of
services right here,” he said.
The
NBC director noted that NBC being a truly local bank had put in place
new strategies for improvement of services to customers from all
segments of the market, including traders, farmers and livestock
keepers.
“We
hope that all our customers and Tanzanians in general will continue to
enjoy our quality services, including an array of products that fit the
specific needs of the customers.”
NBC
launched its Agency Banking services (NBC Wakala) in June this year to
offer banking services including withdrawals, deposits and balance
enquiry, in order to improve service access by eliminating cost and time
spent visiting branches, and speed up service delivery as there is zero
queuing time.
