a landslide success in the just ended TSN Business Forum for Arusha,
the Tanzania Standard (Newspapers) Limited, plans another major feat in
the region.
The company’s Managing Editor, Dr Jim
Yonazi has announced. Speaking to the Regional Administrative Secretary,
Mr Richard Kwitega in his office accompanied by his deputy,
Ms Tuma Abdallah when they paid a courtesy
call on Friday, Dr Yonazi said he was astounded by the massive turnout
of participants for the Arusha version of the TSN Business Forum,
where nearly 700 people filled the Nyasa
hall of Arusha International Conference Centre at the event which took
place on the 24th of May 2018. “The TSN forum had 350 participants in
Zanzibar, and we thought we had good participation,
but Arusha doubled that number,
furthermore, I have just received calls from Kilimanjaro and Manyara
regions where people wanted to know when the forums are going to be held
in their areas,” said Dr Yonazi.
On his part, the Arusha Regional
Administrative Secretary (RAS), Mr Kwitega said, the TSN Business Forum
was an eye-opener; “I was surprised by the massive turnout, especially
of small scale traders and how they effectively made use of the platform
to air their grievances and offer advice, this is something that we
regional authorities ought to have thought of previously,” he said.
Previously, some of the participants said
they found the forums to be useful, but with only duration of one day,
the time was rather limited. “These are events that should run for at
least three days in order to quench the thirst of businesspeople and
investors,”
said Mr Walter Maeda, the Managing
Director of Golden Rose Hotels, whose company was among the event
sponsors. On her part, Ms Joyce Mgaya, the Communications Officer with
Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority said the NCAA management found
the forum as another good platform for tourism promotion,
and that for the first time they used the
stage to announce the presence of their new property, the Jakaya Kikwete
Ngorongoro Tower as well as the new concept in tourism, ‘Geoparks’.
