A delegation of businessmen from Dubai is in the country
searching for investment opportunities in tourism, real estate,
agro-processing, shipping and logistics.
The French
Business Council of Dubai and Northern Emirates delegation is being
hosted by officials from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(DCCI) in Nairobi.
The DCCI opened a representative
office in Nairobi in 2016 to enhance bilateral trade relations and
introduce its members to business and investment opportunities in the
country.
The Nairobi office is DCCI’s fourth in Africa after the Addis Ababa, Accra and Maputo hubs.
“We are bringing our members here to prospect in areas such as
agriculture, tourism, construction, real estate and marine,” said Omar
Abdulaziz Khan, the Director of International Office Programme in
Nairobi. “Dubai has become a very successful trade and logistics hub
attracting big exhibitions and businesses but that does not mean that we
should not go beyond our borders,” he said.
Data
from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics indicates that imports to
Kenya from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) rose considerably to $473
million (Sh47.9 billion) in the third quarter of 2017, from $284 million
(Sh288 billion) in the second quarter, with the country replacing India
as Kenya’s second largest source of imports.
Trade between the two counties mainly involves tea exports from Kenya and petroleum, clothes and electronics from UAE.
Dubai has become the central business place in the world. Businessmen looking to start business in Dubai often search investment banks in dubai, investment banks in UAE and investment advisors dubai which results in helpful information to them so that they can start their journey in the business world.
