REMEMBER the good old ‘Post Office’ days? Well they are currently bouncing back. Tanzania Posts Corporation (Posta) services are being digitalized to connect Tanzanians to online retailing services across the globe.
“We are doing our best to reach all
people including youth, from now people will be able to buy goods online
and enjoy various digitalized services,” explained the Deputy Permanent
Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communications, Ms
Angelina Madete.
Ms Madete was speaking during the just
ended experts’ gathering on ‘Operational Readiness for ECommerce (ORE)’
as converged under the auspices of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and
Pan-African Postal Union (PAPU).
The meeting was specifically for
Anglophonic countries and was held here in Arusha, attracting delegates
from more than 50 countries across the continent.
On his part, the Executive Director for
the Tanzania Posts Corporation (Posta), Mr Deogratius Kwiyuka, revealed
that they had already established affiliated companies -- ‘Microfinance,
E-Commerce and Logistics’ firms to aid smooth online ordering, payments
and ground delivery.
Mr Kwiyuka added that the whole world
has gone cyber, the Postal Services are following the trend, to deliver
the old services using new digital platform
