President Magufuli mourns Lina Mwakyembe

PRESIDENT John Magufuli has sent condolences to the Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Dr Harrison Mwakyembe, following the passing on of his wife Lina George Mwakyembe on Saturday night.

Ms Mwakyembe breathed her last at the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam where she was undergoing treatment.
The family spokesperson, Mr Solomon Kivuyo, told the ‘Daily News’ that Lina was suffering from breast cancer for about two years, and had been admitted to several hospitals --inside and outside the country including India and Turkey.
According to Mr Kivuyo, the deceased body is expected to be flown to Kyela District, Mbeya Region tomorrow (Tuesday), ready for the burial ceremony on the next day (Wednesday).
Leaders including Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa yesterday thronged Minister Mwakyembe’s residence for paying their condolences. In the condolence message issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications early yesterday, Dr Magufuli said he was shocked and saddened by the death of the minister’s wife, expressing his sympathy in joining Dr Mwakyembe’s family in mourning the loss.
“I am hereby expressing my sympathy to you and your family for the passing away of Ms Lina, I understand the pain you and your family are going through. I am praying to the Almighty God to grant you strength and courage in the trying time,” Dr Magufuli said in the statement.
Adding; “I am as well praying for the late Lina George Mwakyembe to rest in eternal peace. Amen.” “As you have heard, she passed away in the just midnight (Saturday to Sunday).
The mass for last respects will take place on Tuesday at KKT Church-Kunduchi, around 12:30 pm before heading to the airport. The deceased had left three male children,” he said.
