Court demands probe details in Aneth case

FAUSTINE KAPAMA
TEMEKE Regional Crime Officer was yesterday ordered to explain the investigation status in a murder case of former economist with Ministry of Finance and Planning Aneth Msuya.

Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court Principal Resident Magistrate Thomas Simba issued the order when the case against Miriam Mrita (41) and businessman Revocatus Muyella came before him for mention.
The trial magistrate expressed discontent on the prosecution submissions on the matter. “There is no further excuse...on the next mention date, October 30, the RCO should appear before this court to give the status of this case’s probe,” the magistrate directed.
State Attorney Patrick Mwita, for the prosecution, had initially told the court that investigations into the matter were at advanced stage and the file was in the process of being taken to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for further actions.
Miriam, Arusha-based businesswoman, is accused of collaborating with Muyela to kill her sister-in-law, Aneth Msuya, on May 25, 2016, at Kibada area in Kigamboni District in a motive yet to be established.
The deceased and first accused are sister and wife, respectively, to Arusha-based gemstone dealer Erasto Msuya, who was killed under controversial circumstances. Muyella, alias Ray (40) is also Arusha-based businessman who allegedly operates in partnership with Miriam.
It was reported that on August 7, 2013, the late Msuya was murdered on his way from Mirerani Hills to Arusha city. His life came to a brutal end at the KIA junction after unknown assailants sprayed 12 rounds of ammunition in his body.
Last December, his sister Ester Msuya and her husband, reportedly sustained injuries after they were shot at Hongera Bar in Dar es Salaam. A few months later, the 30-year-old sister of the fallen dealer, Aneth, was brutally killed at her home in Kibada, with her attackers reportedly using a knife to slaughter her.
